Geometry and Division Test

We will give our last Module test Tuesday, May 1st. It will cover geometry and long division. Your child has a review for each of those subject areas to bring home and use to study for the test!

Field Day and other exciting news!

Field Day is THIS Friday, April 20th. Please look for a letter home in your child's Tuesday folder with further information!
In other news...this week we will start learning Long Division!! Yay! It is the last "thing" that we will learn in 4th grade...after that we review for the STAAR test and then take the test! That being said, it is so so important for every student to be here every day!

Writing STAAR

Tuesday, April 10th is the 4th grade Writing STAAR test. Please ensure that your child gets a good night of sleep tonight and has breakfast before the test tomorrow. We are doing our best to create a calm environment for them to test in here at school!
We also have a science test on Friday, April 13th. This will cover Food Webs, Adaptations, Inherited Traits and Learned Behaviors. I will send home a study guide on Tuesday or Wednesday. I don't want to put the stress of studying for it before the STAAR test.

Field Day

Field day will be this week on Thursday from 12:00-2:40. A letter is going home in Tuesday folders tomorrow with more information.
Also, no school on Friday for Good Friday. Have a blessed and happy Easter Sunday!

DCA Week

This week is an important week for our kiddos! We have a Math DCA scheduled for Wednesday and a Science DCA scheduled for Friday so we will be preparing all week for those tests. Since it is not an easy week academically, I have treated my students to a homework free week! I hope that this eases the stress for them!

Patterns of the Earth Test

We will be having a Science Test over what we have been covering in class: Patterns of the Earth, on Friday, February 23rd. This test will cover the moon phases, seasons, and shadows. A review for this test will be sent home with your child. Please make sure they study this throughout the week and sign and return it on Friday.

The Winter ESTAR test will be given Wednesday, January 24th. Your child took this test at the beginning of the school year and will take it again at the end of the school year. This test measures how prepared your child is for algebra. It is important for your child to be here for this test. Please stress to them the importance of doing their very best on this test! They may bring home their Math Journals to study at any point as long as they bring it back the next day.

We will be having our Math District Common Assessment (DCA), otherwise known as Benchmark, on Friday, January 12th. We will be reviewing for this in class on Thursday so it is pertinent that you child is here that day. The review will be sent home with them if they want to complete any that they did not finish in class or just to review. Thanks for your help in making sure they are here Thursday and Friday.

Christmas Party

There was a flyer in your child's Tuesday folder about our Christmas party! If you can, please send $2 to help cover the cost of food and games!

Science Project

I will be introducing our science project over force and motion on Friday, December 15th. Students will need to gather materials for their project over the weekend so that we can work on the project in class on the week of December 18-22!

Test Friday!

We will have a math test on Friday, December 15 over division and mixed numbers. There will be a review sent home. Extra credit will be offered to those who complete the review at home Thursday night and turn it in on Friday.

Module 5 Test

Good morning! I hope everyone had a wonderful break. This Wednesday we will be having the Module 5 Math test over fractions and angles. We will be reviewing what we learned prior to Thanksgiving in class on Monday and Tuesday. There will also be a review sent home with your child each day to study.

Field Trip

Wednesday is our big field trip to College Station to tour the campus. Teachers and students are very excited! Please have your child wear a Smith t-shirt or an Aggie t-shirt and bring a sack lunch. We will eat lunch on campus.
Also, it has been brought to my attention that the high for that day is 59 degrees and there is a 90% chance of rain. I am currently unsure of how this will affect our trip, but please keep an eye on that and send appropriate attire with your child for that day.
