Meet Ms. Rivera
Hello to our Smith Elementary students and families! My name is Dion Rivera, and I am honored to serve as principal of this incredible school. I am so fortunate to get to spend my days surrounded by the hardest working teachers and kids, and to have such supportive families. I am happy to welcome our families and spend time getting to know you and address your needs. Here is some information so you can get to know me better as well.
I have lived in Magnolia all of my life, and I have great pride in our community. After graduating from Magnolia High School, I attended the University of Texas at Austin. From there, I went on to earn a master's in English from Sam Houston State University. After teaching third grade for a couple of years, I went back to school to get my master's in Education Administration from Lamar University. This will be my sixteenth year in education.
Before moving into administration, I taught fifth grade Math, Science, and Social Studies here at Smith. I love this school and our students, and I am dedicated to doing whatever I can to provide the best education and environment for them.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, reading, running, cycling, and spending time outdoors. I also like to scuba dive when I can find clear water! I love to laugh and find the fun in everything I do.
I am looking forward to an awesome year at Smith Elementary School!
