Does your child love to sing?  If so, I want to remind and encourage your child to consider participating in The Smith  Elementary School CHOIR as an extra-curricular activity.  


This is an exciting privilege ONLY available to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students.



  • 3rd Grade- Tuesdays 7:45 am-8:15 am in the music room. It is encouraged to arrive between 7:40 am and 7:45 am in the cafeteria.
  • 4th and 5th Grade- Fridays 7:30 am-8:15 am in the music room. It is encouraged to arrive between 7:25 am and 7:30 am in the cafeteria.


Concerts: Both the 3rd grade choir and the 4th/5th grade choir will have the opportunity to perform numerous times. Most of the time they will sing in the same program, but there may be times that only one choir is able to.

  • Veterans Day- Choir will sing as a part of the 5th grade program on Thursday, November 9th at 9:00 am in the cafeteria.
  • Christmas- Both choirs will sing separately and together as a celebration of winter time on Tuesday, December 19th at 6:00 pm in the cafeteria.
  • Spring- Both choirs will sing separately and together as a celebration of spring time to showcase their progress over the year on Tuesday, April 24th at 6:00 pm in the cafeteria.
  • Lonestar Choir Festival- In April at least the 4th/5th grade choir will have the opportunity to compete at an elementary choir festival in Tomball. At this time, the dates and information have not been released, so look out for more info! It is also unclear if 3rd grade will be able to perform in that since it is a new addition to our school. I will be sure to update you as I found out!
Uniform: We will order choir polos for the students and an order form will be coming out for that soon. Besides the shirt, the uniform consists of black pants and black shoes. No blue jeans will be allowed for performances. These items will ALWAYS be required for performances. Please note that the color of pants is different than stated on the parent letter that was sent home with your student. **Students will wear BLACK PANTS not khaki pants.**



It is highly recommended to be dropped off at school in the back by the cafeteria instead of taking the bus to ensure prompt attendance as well as a positive and successful rehearsal time. Students should plan to obtain an early morning pass from Mrs. Ramirez to get into the cafeteria for their rehearsal. After 7:45 am, it is not safe for you to drop your student off at the back because of bus drop off. Please drop off at the front after 7:45 am.


There will be fun solo opportunities and most importantly wonderful memories to be made in choir!


The choir permission forms were handed out to students the second week of school. Choir polo order forms will be coming out soon and will be handed out to students at choir/school. Additionally these documents are on my home page ( http://ses.magnoliaisd.org/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=429708&type=u ).  They will be due back by the second day of Choir, which is Tuesday, September 26, 2017 for 3rd grade choir and Friday, September 29, 2017 for 4th and 5th grade choir.
