Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! I am so excited to join the Smith Elementary School team. This is going to be a great year. I can't wait to see all students grow to their maximum potential. I know we have the best staff here at SES because they all EXPECT THE BEST! My vision is to: SERVE teachers and students in the best capacity possible, be it academic, social or emotional; EXPECT the best from everyone, students, staff, and community; and with those two in check, we can't help but TRIUMPH!
A little about me...I am married to my sweet husband who I love and adore! I have 2 daughters...the oldest, Hannah, is 18 and currently attending SHSU (eat 'em up KATS)...the youngest, Grayson, is 11 and currently in 6th grade at a school in Cypress. I love my family "to the moon and back" (that's the phrase we all say to each other on a daily basis). I also have 3 dogs: Trixie and Sage, who are Yorkiepoo sisters from the same mommy/daddy and Willow, who is an English Bulldog with lots or energy.
This is my 21st year in education. I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education from UH in June of 1998. I began teaching in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD later that same year, in August 1998, as a Kindergarten teacher. I taught in CFISD for 18 years gaining experience in grades K-5th in all content areas. I loved every experience I encountered and built many friendships along the way with teachers and parents. During that 18 years, I earned a Master's Degree in Educational Mid-Management from SHSU. After 18 years in CFISD, I decided I wanted to grow professionally and venture out to a smaller district, which brought me to Magnolia ISD. I was an ELAR Instructional Coach at Williams Elementary from 2016-2018 and truly enjoyed serving teachers and students in that arena. That brings us up to the present...I am honored and proud to be Assistant Principal of Smith Elementary!
