eSchoolPLUS Home Access Center (HAC) has a Customer Update

SunGard, the owners of the application eSchoolPLUS, has released a customer support update. SunGard has become aware of an application marketed as “easyHAC,” which is available in the iTunes store.

The iTunes description of easyHAC is as follows:
easyHAC is the cheaper, more advanced alternative to other existing Home Access Center Apps. It allows both students and parents to view the Home Access Center (HAC), which contains information pertaining to things such as grades and attendance. All data is retrieved directly from the Home Access Center website as if you were using a browser.

SunGard would like to make parents aware that they are not affiliated with this third party provider easyHAC. Please see the attached release from SunGard regarding data security.

SunGard's eSchoolPLUS Family mobile application allows parents or guardians to view their child’s classwork, schedule, grades and attendance using a smart phone or tablet through SunGard’s secure application. The free application is available for Apple devices, Android, and Kindle Fire and Fire Phones and uses the same login and password as Home Access Center. The application can be downloaded from iTunes, Google Play or the Amazon app store.

Closing out 2015

This is an exciting final week of 2015 at Smith Elementary School, however, we want to keep the main focus on instruction, so it is very important that students are here each day since Friday marks the end of the second nine weeks.

This week students will be treated to a choir concert on Tuesday at 2:30, and then the Charlie Riley Band is visiting on Thursday at 2:00. We will then have our party day on Friday, with an early release at 12:30. Click this story for party times. A few reminders about party day:

* Students need to stay in their own classrooms. It is difficult for us to keep track of them if they leave class to go to a sibling's party.
* Students need to be checked out in the front office. Teachers will only release students with a pass from the office.
* Please be mindful of food allergies. Many students are allergic to nuts, so check with your child's teacher beforehand if you have questions.

Addison Oglesby Honored as MISD Student of the Month

Smith Elementary third grader, Addison Oglesby, was honored at this month's school board meeting for being chosen as the MISD Student of the Month.

Addison exemplifies all of the characteristics that we strive to teach our students. She is respectful, responsible, and kind. Addison is very active in her church and loves to serve at luncheons and outreach events. She volunteers for the JDRF (juvenile diabetes research foundation) and participates in all of their local walks. She volunteers at the concession stand at BBJH football games, and she loves animals and riding horses. Addison has received all A honor roll every year, and she is rarely seen without a huge book in her hands.

We are so proud of Addison and grateful to have her as part of our SES family.
