Surveys were sent to all parent emails we have on file. If you did not get a survey emailed, please click on the link in this post and also check your Spam folder. Please complete the survey by November 17th. Thank you!

Cafeteria Lunch Monitors Needed

Would you like to spend lunch time with the best kids ever?! If so, please apply to be a lunch monitor. The lunch hours are 10:15 to 1:35. Contact Ms. Pitts or Ms. Rivera if you would like more information. We would love you to join our team!

Attendance Matters - Every Student, Every Day

Attendance matters to your child's success! Make sure your child is at school every day. Did you know that missing just 2 days of school a month means a child misses 10% of the school year? Poor attendance can influence whether children read proficiently by the end of 3rd grade. Absenteeism and its ill effects start early. Learning happens everyday! You must be present to learn!

Click the title of this article for more information about attendance at Smith Elementary.

Information for a Successful Year

This year is off to a great start! Here is some important information:
7:45 - Doors open
8:00 - School begins
8:20 - Students must be in class at this time or receive a tardy
10:00 - Students must arrive by this time to be counted present for the day

We have a new background checking system. Please have your driver's license ready when you come to school so we can scan it for the new year.

Welcome Back!

What a great first week of school! It was so fun to see all of our students again, and we are so excited about our new friends joining us.

During these first couple of weeks, a lot of important papers will be going home, so please be sure to check for those. We also have many after-school activities that students in certain grades can join. Our Science Club, Choir, and Game Club will be starting this month, so be on the lookout for those flyers.

In this post, I am also attaching a newsletter called The Parental Involvement Connection. It has many informative articles and resources for you. Click this story to access the link.
